에이미 셰럴드(1973년 콜럼버스 출생)는 주로 뉴욕에서 활동하고 있으며, 하우저 앤 워스 갤러리(Hauser and Wirth) 소속 작가이다.  버락 오바마 전 대통령의 부인 미셸 오바마 초상화를 그려 유명해진 셰럴드는 비유를 담은 매력적이고 초현실적인 그림을 통해 미국에서 동시대 아프리카계 미국인들이 겪는 경험을 기록해 나간다. 

셰럴드는 메릴랜드 예술대학(Maryland Institute College of Art)에서 회화로 순수예술 석사 학위를, 클라크 애틀랜타 대학(Clark-Atlanta University)에서 회화로 학사 학위를 받았다.  2021년에는 메릴랜드 예술대학에서 명예박사 학위를 수여했다. 

셰럴드는 2016년 여성이자 아프리카계 미국인으로는 처음으로 스미소니언 국립 초상화 미술관(워싱턴 DC 소재)이 개최한 아웃윈 부슈버(Outwin Boochever) 초상화 공모전에서 대상을 수상했다. 2017년에는 '여성은 익명이었다(Anonymous Was A Woman)' 상을, 2019년에는 '스미소니언 독창성 상(Smithsonian Ingenuity Award)'을 수상했다. 구찌가 후원하는 로스앤젤스 카운티 미술관(LACMA)는 2021년 아트+필름 갈라 수상자로 케힌데 와일리와 함께 셰럴드를 수상자로 선정하였다. Amy Sherald (born August 30, 1973) is an American painter based in Baltimore, Maryland.

She is best known for her portrait paintings. Her choices of subjects look to enlarge the genre of American art historical realism by telling African-American stories within their own tradition.
